Medium Cappuccino, Please

Winter is coming. Grey skies set in and the simple fact that we will have to come back from work at dark dishearten us. Can’t afford to escape in a sunny destination right now. A little sadness becomes part of our routine, supported by our—not so optimistic—media environment. Well, remedies are right by our hands, and no need to feel guilty for a costly indulgence. Let your senses guide you.

The Power of Senses.

Bliss is all around, but we have a tendency to forget it. By relentlessly going about our routine, we seem to forget about the unexpected. And that is holding us in a disillusioned languor and hides those wonderful sweetness that fill our lives. Do you remember ?…

A simple word, an idea really. Thrown between two doors. Innocent invitation : “Let’s go for coffee ?” And the memory of the smell of the rich beverage is already awakening our senses. We walk briskly down to the coffee shop at the corner. Busy as always. Going in, going out. A hive of activity carries us in its choreographed ballet. The line up stretches along the counter. We take advantage of those extra minutes to study one more time the blackboard adorned with that nice old-fashioned writing, detailing for us the seducing offers efficiently prepared by dexterous hands.

A World Of Opportunities.

We begin to think that this is our chance to finally break the routine. Order this European espresso that has always been teasing us on the third line. We feel, after all, free to choose. Get out of the ordinary. Discover a new world. This is it, we are next. A solid look from the barista. It is our turn. We hear ourselves order with a determined voice : “Medium Cappuccino, please.”

Satisfying Staple.

Of course, it is the same as usual… But, a smile on the face, we take delight in realizing that this very moment opened the doors for us to a whole new world. Endless opportunities hanging at our fingertips. Free to decide. And we decided. All in a cup of coffee. Then we go to that little table which has just been cleared. By the window. A look outside. Well yes, it is dark. And it is starting to rain. But it doesn’t matter. We inhale the rich steam from the cup before us and our lungs fill with that warm flavor.

The Journey.

A sip, just a sip and we travel across the ocean. All the way to an Italian plaza. And we are so glad we resisted the temptation of the charming espresso. It would have been such a shame not to enjoy this magic of temperature, rich combination of milk and coffee. Ahhh, comforting cappuccino. Back on our continent, our mind migrates down South. We can feel the aroma of the coffee bean that so many skilled workmen and women have developed generation over generation. Crafting sensuality through the elements. Working with the soil and the sun and the rain. Mastery and art, hand in hand, developing aromas for the world to discover.

Mindful Moment.

A minimum conversation. Just the gratitude to be warm and cozy inside while looking at those dripping coats passing before our very eyes. Soon, it will be us facing the elements. Feeling the cold drops going down our neck. But for now, just the delight.
